FRAMING
RAHMI KOÇ MUSEUM
While experiencing the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, the elements that most caught our attention were the volumetric voids that provided transitions between exhibition areas within the building, the voids defining the openings in the walls, and the spatial rhythm created by these voids. The elements defining these voids were mostly vaults and arches made of stone and brick; in some places, rectangular transitions were highlighted by frames added to the building later. The formal and auditory rhythm of each frame in the building offered us a harmonious experience. The unique auditory experience offered by each exhibition space and the visual composition of the voids, which differed in size and form, diversified the framing that the museum included us in. In our study, we aimed to accompany the museum experience with a new rhythm by reframing the exhibition spaces and the sounds of these spaces, which were framed in different ways and with different materials, with our own framing.
