SCENE: INTERMEDIATE AREA
OPERA STAGE
The Opera House, being a performing arts structure, has a comprehensive design encompassing various functions. Beyond the entrance area, foyer, and opera hall open to the public, the building also includes extensive backstage preparation areas. In our study, we considered the stage as an intermediate space that both separates and unites the auditorium, where the final performance is presented to the audience, and the backstage area, where all the components of the performance are created and assembled. In our video, we contrast the glittering state of the audience-accessible spaces with the neglected and disorganized state of the backstage areas, where every detail of the stage production is prepared and assembled. This aims to convey the disharmony created within the overall structure by the difference in spatial quality offered to different user groups on the two separate sides of the stage.
