Architect's Journey
M4515 The Architect's Journey is offered as an elective course in the undergraduate program of Architecture at Gazi University by Melike AKYOL.
This course explores the impact of travel experience on an architect's education and the formation of their architectural knowledge. Through readings and discussions throughout the semester, the aim is to investigate and explore the role of experiencing architecture concretely through travel in the architect's learning process, architectural production, and the development of their discourse.
During the Fall Semester of 2021-2022, as their final term project, students chose a museum, exhibition hall, or performance space in Ankara and created an architectural journey route based on their chosen theme, aiming to experience architecture through this space. Each student team conveyed their experiences and spatial explorations along their planned journey routes using visual, auditory, and/or textual tools.
