SPACE FROM SOUND
CSO ADA
Eyes were closed… All that could be heard were the sounds of crows. Should the purpose of this place be to move forward and discover new sounds, or is it a consequence of its functions? A little further on, now the sound of water. Where does the path guided by this sound lead? Now the sound of ventilation, now the footsteps are clearer… A crowd… A hall that falls silent after new and different footsteps, and finally, a unique beginning… Applause… The magic truly began here. The real thing is the feeling of wholeness created by the emotions combined with the sound… Now everything is clearer. Where are you? Open your eyes. You felt the wholeness when you started to see what you heard, didn't you? Did you feel the warmth of the wood combined with the calm music? A light focused on the person… Did this light increase their excitement? Mirrors… What is on the ground is also in the sky. Time for a transparent journey. Where are we going, to an endless place? Did you feel your own body shrinking? Keep walking. Even though the music festival has ended live, it continues to play on the ground. Let's rest a little on the side. Did you feel the smoothness of the marble? Do the sounds outside reflect reality? Again, the sound of crows and water, but this time accompanied by a colossal design. Although gray, cold, and distant, it has opened its arms to you. Be careful not to fall! This is a slope that will quicken you even if you go slowly. Watch how the wind dances with the water. Judging by the reflections, the sun is also accompanying them.

Our CSO Ada experience was shaped by a route guided by sound and mass:
SOUND:
As Juhani Pallasmaa emphasizes in his book *The Eyes of the Skin*, sight is not the only sense that allows us to perceive a structure; all senses complement the experience of the structure. Since CSO Ada is primarily a performance structure defined and lived by sound, we aimed to perceive the structure with all other senses, especially sound. We listened to the sounds in CSO Ada, which also stands out for its acoustic properties. The water element in the exterior, the sounds from the ventilation pipes, the footsteps on the marble floor of the interior, the sounds during the concert are all sounds that define CSO and help us to perceive it architecturally. We focused on the reflection or lack thereof, the propagation or lack thereof of these sounds. Due to the acoustics and sound insulation provided, we observed that the sounds in the concert hall did not spread to the foyer area during the concert. The sounds in the foyer area were very clear. We noticed that there was no echo.
MASS:
The triangular and circular forms that make up the building's mass composition simultaneously capture stillness through sharp finishes and dynamism sustained by soft, unending turns. The height of the foyer, defined by the glass ceiling, allows visitors to discern the time of day. The deliberately left openings and the shell forms of the concert halls enable the perception of mass and spatial volume, and the awareness of the building's overall mass. Furthermore, as a result of the design decision, the building's scale remains monumental within the city's context.
ROUTE:
As a result of our investigations, we created a sound path from the outside to the inside. In our work, we primarily wanted to convey the experience of the space composed of sounds. Then, the mass and visual perception of the concert halls and foyers merged with the sound path we created, forming an audiovisual path from the inside to the outside. In our video, we aimed to convey the integrity of the sound and mass experience of CSO Ada by following this path.
